Dietary vitamins and minerals
These can be considered to be micronutrients, are thus taken in smaller quantities compared to macronutrients, and do not provide calories. Water-soluble vitamins include the B-vitamins and vitamin C. These dissolve in water and are thus not stored, eventually being excreted by the body. Consequently they require to be consumed on a continuous basis. Vitamins A, D, E and K are classed as fat-soluble and these require dietary fat for their absorption into the body where they are stored in fatty tissues and the liver. The list of dietary minerals required by the body includes iodine for maintaining regular thyroid function. Together, these vitamins and minerals have structural and functional roles as well providing electrolytes to maintain intracellular balance. As such, insufficient levels of either can thus have an impact on general health.

MAIN INGREDIENTS
*Vitamin A: to support healthy vision in the form of retinal in the retina of the eye. It also plays a role in maintaining
healthy teeth and skin and in normal cellular and bone development as well as a role in the support of the immune and reproductive systems
*Vitamin C: also known as acorbic acid is required for the growth and repair of tissues. It is also necessary to form collagen, an
important constituent of skin, scar tissue, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels and to promote healthy teeth and gums. Furthermore it plays a role in
wound healing and maintenance of cartilage, bones, and teeth. Its antioxidant properties are important in controlling oxidative stress that can lead to
cell damage. It also supports the healing process of wounds, burns and broken bones by assisting with collagen formation and tissue repair. In addition,
it can improve the absorption of folic acid, calcium and iron.
*Vitamin D: promotes calcium absorption, building bone mass and preventing bone loss. It has a role in promoting strong teeth and protecting against muscle weakness. It also promotes normal cell growth and differentiation throughout the body, working as a key factor in maintaining hormonal balance and a healthy immune system.
*Vitamin E: is a key antioxidant important for a healthy heart, blood supply and skin. Regular intake is essential as it is stored in the body only for short periods of time.
*Vitamin B1: plays a role in cell metabolism thereby providing energy, aids in digestion and maintains a healthy nervous system.
*Vitamin B3: is important in cell metabolism and energy production but it also helps the digestive system function and promotes a normal appetite and healthy skin and nerves.
*Vitamin B5: also important in cell metabolism notably for its requirement to form the cofactor used in the synthesis and oxidation of fatty acids.
*Vitamin B6: has a role in cell metabolism and also helps support healthy immune, cardiovascular and nervous systems.
*Vitamin B12: is required for the normal growth and development of red blood cells, skin and hair, promotes a healthy nervous system and is necessary for calcium absorption by the body.
*Folate (Folic Acid): helps support normal growth and development and plays a role in maintenance of the proper functioning of the nervous system, intestinal tract and red blood cells. During early pregnancy it is believed to reduce the risk of birth defects involving incomplete development of the fetal brain and spinal cord.
*Choline: serves several functions in the body including as a fat emulsifier, in the structure of cell membranes, and as the precursor
molecule for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
*Inositol: functions closely with choline and is effective in promoting the body's production of lecithin. It is required for the proper
action of several brain neurotransmitters and also serves as a secondary messenger within in cells.
*Biotin: is an essential water-soluble vitamin that supports general health, growth and development including nerves, bones, hair, skin
and blood cells. In addition it is necessary in fat and amino acid metabolism.
*Lutein: is an antioxidant in the carotenoid family and as it is enriched in the retina, may have a role in maintaining good vision.
*Iodine: is a constituent of thyroid hormones and this trace element thus supports normal thyroid function as well as helping to maintain
healthy teeth, skin, nails and hair.
*Cranberry: contains flavonoids that have antibacterial properties for the support of a healthy urinary tract.
